Tree valuations
Tree value is usually seen in terms of the visual amenity that they provide though increasingly the ecosystem services that they provide are being considered. It is sometimes useful to calculate a monetary value for trees as this is more tangible than abstract visual and ecological values.
We use several different methods to calculate tree values including:
- The Council of Tree and Landscape Appraisers (CTLA) method
- The Capital Asset Value for Amenity Trees (CAVAT)
- Visual Amenity Value of Trees and Woodland (the Helliwell System)
Valuations of this type can be useful in claims involving:
- Alleged damage to trees
- Building structural damage claims
- Requests to impose a tree preservation order
